Transition Day Aug. 14, 2025

To make the transition easier for students entering kindergarten, sixth grade and ninth grade, as well as for students who attend Husky Academy and the International Welcome Center (IWC), Ritenour is hosting special Transition Day activities on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025 to acclimate them to their new schools.

Ritenour’s first day of school is Monday, Aug. 18.

Parents and students are encouraged to attend the Aug. 14 Transition Day events, which include informational sessions, school tours, a snack in the cafeteria, and much more. Families will also have the opportunity to meet school counselors, teachers and administrators.

Kindergartners and their parents will meet at their respective elementary schools in the morning on Aug. 14.  Doors open at 9 a.m., with the program going from 9:30 to 11 a.m. In addition to informational sessions and time to meet new friends, kindergartners and their parents will have the opportunity for a bus tour. Kindergartners should not bring their school supplies for this event. Transportation is not provided for kindergarten Transition Day.

Transition Day for sixth graders at Hoech and Ritenour middle schools will be held from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., with an optional parent session at the start of the program. Sixth-graders will have the opportunity to meet teachers and friends, get their school ID, tour the building and have a snack. Bus service is provided to students who are eligible for transportation.

Transition activities for ninth-graders at Ritenour High School will be held 8:05-11:05 a.m. and will help them become familiar with their class schedule, teachers and classmates. A parent orientation will be held at the beginning of the session. Transportation is provided to students who are eligible for transportation.

Students who attend Husky Academy and the ACE Program are encouraged to meet with the Husky Academy director between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. by contacting Husky Academy Director Tavonda Palmer Harvey at palmerharveyt@ritenourschools.org or by calling (314) 493-6034 to make an appointment.

The International Welcome Center will hold open house activities 8:30-10:30 a.m. at its new home, the Julie Hahn Center for International and Gifted Learners on the campus of the Ritenour Center for Educational Excellence, 10901 St. Henry Lane in St. Ann.
